Once a month, 720 MEPs and their assistants travel 400 kilometres from Brussels to the official seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourgg for four days of debates before returning to Brussels afterwards. Many are against this practice, which is costly. Why does the EU’s main democratic institution take this monthly return journey? And how does it affect the workings of the Parliament?
