Insaf Dimassi arrived from Tunisia when she was nine months old. Today, she’s 28 and still doesn’t have Italian nationality. Like her, more than 900,000 students are in the same situation — a scandal, according to the associations behind last June’s referendum. Their goal: to reduce the legal residency requirement for non-European nationals from ten years to five.
