In August 2019 the Siberian forests were ablaze. Record high temperatures, low rainfall and windy conditions led to enormous wildfires across the sparsely region choking towns and destroying livelihoods. Other areas were hit by severe floods raising awareness of the region's vulnerability to climate change.
