In Bosnia-Herzegovina, rubbish and toxic waste is piling up in the open air. Authorities estimate that there are more than a thousand illegal dumps as the few public landfill sites are very often full or dilapidated. The fumes and untreated wastewater present a risk not only to the environment, but also to the health of local residents.
